I've run into that M-Tx "feature" as well. For some reason prepmx ignores a pickup bar if it is contained in an M-Tx paragraph of its own: no pmx code is written to the pmx output file. For my own M-Tx engravings I prefer to keep all bars in separate paragraphs. My work-around for the reported problem is to apply blind meter changes. I notate the pickup bar in the meter corresponding to its actual duration but sets the meter for display to that of the full bars.
