i observe that miktex (and tex live) both offer musixtex as part of
their downloadable installation.

i doubt they're much good, unless there some executable somewhere that
i've missed.  (i really don't think so.)

since both miktex and tex live are _so_ good for installations (and
offer support for lots of platforms) it's rather a pity that the
music&tex community haven't offered them help in getting it right.

after all, any musixtex-er needs a tex system, and installing _that_
from component parts takes a strong will indeed.

installing dirty great packages like musixtex, by hand, is just _so_
last century.
