The original file would not have run since you left out the line in the
preamble for the instrument name.
The “I” should go after the preamble (after the path) and before the code for
the notes.

Hello all,
I find Cornelius C. Noack’s tutorial rather unclear on how to produce a MIDI
file during the pmx processing, as it provides no minimal example. I certainly
succeed in producing MIDI files with examples from the standard distribution,
but I’ve tried various placings of "I commands" just about anywhere at random
in my very basic pmx file (appended below), without getting anywhere. So can
someone tell me
what simple "I" command must be inserted and where in the code below ?
