I'm horrified than anyone is horrified by anything that happens in PMX, no matter how horrible.
But I'm gratified at any evidence that PMX is still being used. Now as to the error message, try putting yourself in PMX's position. After "I", you got two consecutive, valid subcommands: "t56" and "ipi". Each one came with the correct number and form of arguments. Now you're ready for whatever comes next. It's "p", not a blank, so it's another subcommand for "I". And what does "p" mean in that context? Insert a pause. OK, so now you're expecting an argument that is a number. But no, some clown gave you "i". What are you going to say? Surely not anything about the number or names of instruments. PMX is pretty smart, but it's not a mind reader. --Don Simons -----Original Message----- From: TeX-Music [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of Jill-Jênn Vie Sent: Sunday, August 10, 2014 4:31 PM To: [email protected] Subject: [Tex-music] [PMX] Expected a number here for the pause Hi guys, hisashiburi¹! Well, I was horrified by this error: Expected a number here for the pause on It56ipipi in a 2 1 3 4 3 4 0 4 file. Hopefully, in pmx270.pdf, I found: The number of arguments following suboption i [ ] must in fact equal the number of *instruments*. Before version 2.7, it was the number of staves (despite the incorrect description in the manual!) These numbers may differ and this creates a backward incompatibility. But, right after: Hoping this wont cause too much distress, Ive enhanced the real-time error messages. Maybe you should replace Expected a number here for the pause with Well, since PMX 2.7, only one mention of the instrument is needed. Have a nice day., etc. Best, ¹ http://jisho.org/words?jap=hisashiburi -- Jill-Jênn ------------------------------- [email protected] mailing list If you want to unsubscribe or look at the archives, go to http://tug.org/mailman/listinfo/tex-music ------------------------------- [email protected] mailing list If you want to unsubscribe or look at the archives, go to http://tug.org/mailman/listinfo/tex-music
