The authors actually deny that quite explicitly.

As editor of the science section of an omnibus journal, I can
report that mathematicians, physicists and some computer
scientists prefer LaTeX, wheras all other scientists prefer Word,
despite the ugly mathematical equations it produces. I have
had to refer some of them to a website where one can
type in a mathematical formula in LaTeX and get an image
that can be pasted into Word.

As far as music typesetting goes, the following sentence seems
relevant to us:

   LaTeX users, however, more often report enjoying using
   their respective software.
