more consistent) than either of the first two.
Are there any applicable rules/conventions?
I guess \tql means tqb?
In my view the 3 manners are in 19C style. I believe the only correct
manner is:
\startextract
\vnotes1.7\elemskip\ibbbl2m0\qb2m\tbbbl2\qb2n\en
\notes\tbbl2\tqb2o\en
\notes\ibbl2m0\qb2{.n}\hroff{\tbbbl2\tqb2m}\en
%
\notes\ibbl2m0\qb2{.n}\hroff{\tbbbl2\tbbl2\tqb2o}\en
\notes\ibbl2m0\qb2{.n}\hroff{\tbbbl2\tqb2o}\en
%
\vnotes1.7\elemskip\ibbbl2n0\qb2n\tbbbl2\tqb2o\en
\notes\tqb2p\en
\notes\ibbl2m0\qb2{.o}\hroff{\tbbbl2\tqb2n}\en
\endextract
In my old scores I often find 8 16th notes grouped as:
\notes\ibbu1c0\qb1{ccc}\tbbu1\qb1c\nbbu1\qb1{ccc}\tqh1c\en
but in modern editions you only find 2 distinct 4-notes beams.
