Christian, thanks VERY much for this test. I don't have it solved yet, but I'm very puzzled. Different and strange things happen when I compile it with different, earlier versions of pmxab, but so far I've only tried pmx.tex from 2.70. With that and pmxab 2.60, it compiles and the arpegii are all too long. That tells me the problem is not with version 2.71.
