I was hoping that an older version would work properly (suggesting that a revision had broken the original code) but the oldest version I can find on WIMA (T73, 31 March 1997) has the same useless comment and fails in the same way. Unless someone can provide contrary evidence, my conjecture is that this feature has *never* worked as documented.
