I tried adjusting the file psslurs.pro as described and found out that

a) a value of 2.5 gave the best result (yes, decimals work) and

b) there is a second section "half crescendos" (for open hairpins) where the
same adjustment has to be made.

It would certainly be desirable if this were made the default in the
distribution.
