Dearest Bob, good morning from eastern Sicily, I sincerely thank you for your kind reply. Regarding the Gregorian music code, I must inform you that I have no expertise in Gregorian music either. As far as I remember, I sent the email about how to obtain the "Guia" symbol to all the maintainers of MusixTeX (https://ctan.org/pkg/musixtex), and the response I gave here: https://tex.stackexchange.com/questions/735465/missing-guia-symbol-in-gregorian-chant-musixgre-library?noredirect=1#comment1834165_735465 was merely a kind of challenge. At present, I do not know anyone with experience in TeX who might be willing to become the maintainer of *musixgre.tex*. I believe that, first and foremost, such a person should have knowledge of musical notes and sheet music. Personally, since I do not fully understand either sheet music or notes, I do not think that the maintainers of *gregorio.tex*, such as Élie Roux, Henry So, and Fr. Samuel Springuel, would be willing to take on this role. I remain available for anything I am capable of assisting with and send you my best regards. Unfortunately, there is no record of who contributed musixgre.tex in 1997 (or even earlier) and I have no expertise in Gregorian music. I suggest you find someone with some TeX expertise who might be willing to become the maintainer of musixgre.tex. That person should copy musixgre.tex to a personal directory, modify it as necessary and distribute it to other gregorian music enthusiasts. When it's tested, it should be e-mailed directly to me at my current address ( [email protected]) and I will replace musixgre.tex in the next revision of the musixtex package. I should also be advised on how Section 25.15 of the musixdoc manual should be revised. Best, Bob Tennent
