One reason could be that your biblatex.4ht version is not suitable for the
version of biblatex you use. For example, for biblatex0.9d, biblatex.4ht
from September26, 2010 is needed, see, e.g., the discussion in
http://tug.org/pipermail/tex4ht/2010q3/000195.html. The version on CTAN
seems still to be from 2008.

I am following instructions from various places which suggest that I do:
mk4ht oolatex patcv.tex
I get the following error:
! LaTeX Error: Missing \begin{document} in `'.

Note that the error above changes as mk4ht processes the .aux file, as it
rewrites the file.

Note that the use of the q command to the run window gets it to run, and then
opening the file in MS Word actually has a sort-of
converted file.
