Follow-up Comment #8, bug #315 (project tex4ht):
It seems like a spurious </p> tag is inserted before <caption>. Try to use the
config.cfg file. It seems to work for your MWE, hopefully it will work for
your full file as well. If it does, I will update TeX4ht sources.
What is the issue with the xhtml doctype?
