Most cavers drive to remote and rural areas to go to caves, far from a car mechanic. So many cavers, especially the older ones, prefer vehicles that do not have lots of electric crap on them.
The newest vehicles all have smart-keys ( a.k.a. key fobs ). These things are a nightmare, or will be a nightmare when you realize they leave you stranded. If you purchase a new vehicle do a thorough research on key fob issues. I have heard lots of horror stories about this. The gov't agency in charge of car safety has an ongoing study on this problem. Feel free to ad to this topic, or correct me. I want to buy a new car with push-button start, but not if it is going to cost me a fortune every time that it randomly fails. The owner should be able to bypass these things somehow, but then I guess the theives would use that loophole to their advantage.
