I use the Gaia GPS app on my galaxy note 2 on a daily basis for my job and
I am very happy with the versatility.  As for the phones battery life I can
not comment as my phone is normally in a holder so I can drive and navigate
at the same time... Also I forget where it pulls the default maps from but
I have found them very detailed to the point of listing some roads/jeep
trails that are no longer usable... and that is saying a lot considering
where I drive.
