A special item will be auctioned this Sat night at the TCMA Auction. It is one of 18 TSA belt buckles found in the Chuck Stuehm collection. The
buckles were made by a friend of Chuck's to sell at the 1978 NSS Convention in New Braunfels, but they weren't ready in time. So far I have not
found any record of how many were made or sold, but have learned of at least 3 cavers who have one. Those of us dealing with the collection
have decided to auction one per year at the TSA Convention, with the funds going to TCMA. I sent one buckle to Gary K. Soule, who is the de
facto NSS historian and curator of cave memorabilia. That buckle will eventually be housed in the new NSS HQ. Another buckle will be displayed
in the TSS office in Austin (which also curates the TSA and TCMA archives).
The buckle is 3 1/2 x 2 3/8 x 3/16 inches, and weighs 4 ozs.

Chuck would be pleased to know that his buckles are helping preserve Texas
caves.
The Texas Speleological Survey tent will be displaying some other interesting items from Chuck's collection, and other old caving gear and
photos donated to the TSS by Texas cavers.
