Fortunately, I have no oak wilt at my place and have some magnificent live
oaks. However, I have an abundance of solid, dry, cedar elm which I understand
is excellent fire wood and what I intend to haul or have hauled to TCR. June
and I hope to visit with you there.

Fritz, firewood can contain wood boring beetles that can find themselves in a
target rich environment. That's the concern here. I don't allow firewood to be
brought to Deep & Punkin Caves Nature Preserve. Perhaps if all wood is burned
or hauled out after... Perhaps using some from PC is a better option? I won't
know for a few days before I can speak with the owner. He's been developing it
for the park, maybe there is some wood there.

DE can only be used in dry places. That's why I said "in your home" unless, of
course, you live under a waterfall or in a cave. Be sure you keep it in a dry
place on put it in a sealed container (I use sealable plastic coffee
containers). If it gets wet, it turns into a solid, then instead of sprinkling
insects, you have to beat them to death with it. I use it on the sills of the
little screens that allow dampness to escape from under the house, but have to
reapply after rain storms.

I got rid of bedbugs with diatomaceous earth. I'm not sure how far it can be
tracked. i.e., suppose an ant tracks through diatomaceous earth and then goes
into a cave. How much does the ant bring along and leave in the cave for other
insects to cross over?
IT is natural and I like it for that fact, but unlike a pesticide that is
designed to degrade over time, diatoms can stay in tact for millions of years.
Their physical, not chemical, properties make them effective.
I don't think Louise was suggesting they be used in or around a cave, but I
thought it was probably a worthy subject to touch on. I simply don't know what
would happen and I'm curious.

I have no idea how Twitter works, or how to turn the fr*ckin emails off.
Anyone new to Twitter should not let Twitter send out invitations
automatically.
One thing I left off of my 1st Twitter post, is that Twitter is integrated
in some way to
Linkedin. You have to be careful that what you post on Linkedin, so
that it does not end up on Twitter.
On a related note,
I think Linkedin is a great service, but I do not know if it has helped my
business, as
my customers are all computer illiterate, and they do not have the spare
time to mess with it. They just get someone else, like their office
staff, to manage the page.
I haven't found any use for Linkedin related to caving, except to let my
friends know what it is that I do for a living. Lots of cavers use it
more than I do, so feel free to correct me on that. It seems like a
professional way to brag about your accomplishments though. Right ?
