In 1967 or '68 there was a TSA Labor Day Project in Kimble County. I spent most of that weekend caving with Tom and getting to appreciate his enthusiasm for caving and his sense of humor. It was a cruel trick on us all that he died so young with so much left to contribute. --Ediger

Gentle until he offered to shake your hand. :-) What a grip! Joel Tom Meador would often chug-a-lug a whole gallon of milk (his favorite beverage) at camp. He was quite a historian, too, and spent many an hour researching cave history in courthouses and library archives. He loved the Guads,pushing his 4wd vehicle to the limits (once overturned it when he hit a cow out on Hwy 137), and was a delight to be around. Mighty Tom was way too young when he left us. Known to some of us as "Tommy Door", we'll always keep him in our thoughts. Lee Skinner
