All,
As you may know, several BLM caves have been closed for almost two
years now, do to the threat of WNS. That temporary closure expires on January
25, 2013. Many cavers who have been working with BLM on caving projects are
concerned that the BLM will continue the closure for another 2 years, or even
longer. We do not believe the current stringent closure, allowing for no
access except for WNS research is in order. I have written a letter to the
state director of New Mexico BLM and have just e-mailed that letter to him. I
encourage everyone who would like to make sure that these caves do not remain
closed "ad infinitum", contact Mr. Juen by e-mail <[email protected]>, by mail
[Jesse Juen, New Mexico State Director, Bureau of Land Management, PO Box
27115, Santa Fe, NM 87502-0115], or by phone (505-954-2222).
Attached is the letter that I wrote to Mr. Juen.

Steve Peerman
"Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things you
didn't do than by the ones you did. So throw off the bowlines, Sail away from
the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover."
attributed to Mark Twain, but no record exists of his having written this.
