The AMCS has two new books recently added to its catalog.

The Association for Mexican Cave Studies announces the publication of its bulletin 23, Heart of Earth: Studies in Maya Ritual Cave Use, edited by James E. Brady. It contains twelve articles in its 142 pages. Softbound, $10 plus shipping, details at http://www.amcs-pubs.org/bul/bul23.html .

New to our catalog of books is Cueva del Río La Venta: An Underground Dream, published by La Venta Esplorazioni Geografiche in Italy, with main authors Tullio Bernabei, Antonio De Vivo, Francesco Sauro, and Giuseppe Savino. The 159-page hardcover book is heavily illlustrated with color photos, including 70 full-page ones. Included is a detailed description of the through-trip in the cave in Chiapas. Three days were spent there on a dedicated photo trip for this book. A pocket in the back contains a large, folded sheet with an area map on one side and a 3-D diagram of the cave on the other. $35 plus shipping; see http://www.amcs-pubs.org/other/CuevaLaVenta.html .

These will be available at the UT Grotto meeting this Wednesday. We also have a few copies of the Spanish-language version of the Cueva del Río La Venta book. I'll have at least one of those at the meeting. They aren't in the catalog because we have so few of them.
