It’s time for my once-a-year TexasCavers post: I thought this mailing list would go to town after the following news stories aired in San Antonio, but it’s possible that I’m the only person that saw them on KSAT 12 news (the local ABC affiliate). The first story is a report of folks camping near Johnson City, and waking to find what was diagnosed as vampire bat bites on their bodies. The second story quotes David Bamberger saying that scientists have told him that they have been expecting their arrival. Both stories aired within the past month. http://www.ksat.com/news/Vampire-bats-bite-San-Antonio-man-during-camping-trip-in-Johnson-City/-/478452/16626970/-/1bgqu4/-/index.html http://www.ksat.com/news/Area-conservationist-J-David-Bamberger-sheds-light-on-vampire-bats-mystery/-/478452/16798234/-/kdcdx9z/-/index.html I am curious to hear other people’s take on these stories – particularly the folks who know way more about bats than I do (I’m talking to you, Crash!). Thoughts? -Tom
