Greetings Cavers,
The Association for Mexican Cave Studies is pleased to announce that
this coming Thanksgiving we will have been exploring Mexican caves for
fifty years. It all began back during Thanksgiving of 1962 when TR
Evans led Terry Raines, James Reddell, and Bill Russell to a new
caving area he had discovered around the village of Tequila, Veracruz.
At the Texas Cavers Reunion this coming weekend, we will be
celebrating with an AMCS Free-For-All slide show. We will have a tent
with projectors for both real slides and digital. Anyone can talk on
any subject, sharing their Mexican adventures. Here are some of the
presentations that immediately come to mind, and I will bring the show
we presented at the NSS Convention.
First AMCS trip to Mexico
Breaking the Deepest Cave record- Tlamaya
Breaking the Deepest Pit record- Ventana Jabalí
Discovery of Golondrinas
Mapping of Golondrinas
Exploration of El Sótano, deepest world drop
Exploration of the Huaulta cave system
Exploration of the Sistema Purificación
And remember those great 'campfire stories' we've been telling all
these years, when we were trapped by flood waters or cheated death. As
the first 50 years of exploration comes to an end, and the second 50
years begins, we will be gathering those great stories together for a
new book titled something like 'Great Mexican Cave Adventures". Start
thinking of your contribution, either a page or chapter, and we'll get
it organized.
Also, we have a Nikon Coolscan 5000 that works great. If you still
have MexCave slides that need to be scanned bring them, but no more
than ten at a time.
