The national figure these days is that 2/3 of marriages fail. I think that of the marriages I've officiated the figure is about the same. We may be more average than we want to believe. I always caution people that marriage is sorta like a caving expedition. Put a lot of energy into it while it lasts and when the trip is over go away as friends. If, by chance, the expedition doesn't end then you're either lucky or exceptional and quite privileged to keep that energy going. Either way, make the most of any relationship and be friends forever. --Ediger
