Overpopulation is a major underlying cause of almost all of the environmental problems that consume so much of our attention and is also a significant factor in many current social problems, but it's hardly a local phenomenon. The world population continues to grow, the population of our country continues to grow, every state in which I have lived has had increasing population, and every city in which I have lived has experienced population growth along with its resulting problems.
