The Ely bid was presented but cannot be voted on until the next BOG meeting.
Their presentation was very impressive.

Future NSS Convention Schedule.
2013-Shippensburg, Penn., near Carlisle
2014-Huntsville, AL
2015-Rolla, Missouri
2016-Ely, Nevada.
Believe that is the plan voted on by the board. The board
had a discussion about having three conventions in the east, but decided that
east and west are relative.
By the way at the next UTG Grotto meeting ask Pete and
Gill to describe the moment the squall line hit the Lewisburg campground,
including sound effects.

Hi Carol,
Here's what I sent to Preston:
Whoop de doo! Ely is close (or at least closer than all the others). I worked
there for almost 10 years. Love the area. Good excuse to go back! Actually, I
have to disagree with the board. East and west are only relative if you have
money or don't have to travel 2000 miles. Used to be the convention would be on
one side of the country one year; mid-country the next year; and the other side
of the country the next year. I thought that was a good plan. You could
generally make it to one or two in a 3-year period. Now, with the price of
gas... Thanks for the info. Louise

DD and all,
Sounds like all the more reason to have
the next one in Oregon. This year it's in the hi 70s to mid 80s. We had rain

It is still my goal to rotate the sites, but the BOG has the final say (as you
saw this year).
The biggest problem with the rotation is finding hosts. I still hope we can
have a convention in Flagstaff one day. It was a good site, I just need people
the region will accept to be the host group.
Seeing different parts of the country, I have not been to before, is one of the
pluses to going to convention.

The SOB's that tried to upgrade my web hosting service while I was at
convention have attempted to fix a small problem with all of the caver.net
mailing lists and in the process deleted them all...
I am not sure if it is fixable as I have been off and on the phone to morons
for hours and besides not being able to understand them and them not able to
understand me. Then they have no clue as to what I am talking about when I call
in... Hard for them to fix what they don't understand...
Bottom line... if it is broke beyond a simple repair I am not going to fool
with it any longer...
Maybe after a beer I will feel better.
Thanks,
Bill

I'll see your 2 tequilas and raise you a 6 pack of Moose Drool Ale (real ale
made in Missoula, MT). Or at least I would have in my prime.
