I disagree with some of the things David does and the way he does them. The
same can be said of any of us. While cavers are free to criticize, I suggest we
do so privately, constructively, and directly to the person involved, not on
CaveTex.

Also, let’s not lose sight of the actual contributions made by those we
criticize. I’ve watched David work his butt off helping at caving events. He
has organized his own event, primarily for cavers, which I know many cavers
have enjoyed. While some of his CaveTex postings are off topic and I believe
are inappropriate for CaveTex, his postings on lights, cave-related websites,
and other cave-related information, are appropriate and appreciated by many.

I am constantly impressed with the generosity of cavers. We have bought Punkin
and Deep, helped countless cave owners, and have given hundreds of
presentations and led hundreds of trips for non-caving groups. Let’s show that
generosity for one of our own by publicly praising when warranted and
criticizing constructively and privately when needed.

I would suggest that we all start playing nice and quit dog piling, David
Locklear.

All in favor?
