This is the premier conference for everyone interested in cave and karst management, including private landowners, show cave operators, state and federal land managers and biologists, NGOs such as The Nature Conservancy and Bat Conservation International, cave conservancies, and others. It is only held every other year, and the last one was folded into the ICS in Kerrville in 2009, so we haven't had a stand-alone NCKMS since 2007. This year we will be in the fabulous Wasatch mountains in Midway, Utah, and meetingOctober 3-7. The website is_http://www.nckms.org/2011_. There is currently a call for papers (_http://www.nckms.org/2011/CallForPresenters.html_) with an August 15 deadline. There are also scholarshipsavailablefor participants, with preference given to presenters and students (_http://www.nckms.org/2011/Scholarships.html_). The NCKMS also publishes the proceedings from each and every conference to date, starting with the first in 1975, making this one of THE best resources for cave managers anywhere. And I would be remiss if I did not point out that they are ALSO on the Karst Information Portal athttp://www.karstportal.org.

I have been to every NCKMS since 1997, and I always learn a lot. This year I willagainbe teaching aday workshop on Bat Cave Assessment and Management(_http://www.nckms.org/2011/Workshops.html_).

I hope to see a good Texas contingent there this year.
