Here is a"request for papers" announcement by Joe Douglas, a historian and
former Greater Houston Grotto member.

I still haven't given up on doing some cave archeology some time, but there
just isn't much opportunity when 99% of one's work is in the Houston area.

Call for Papers/Presentations
Archaeology Session
2011 NSS Convention

Glenwood Springs, Colorado

Friday July 22, 2011

This is a last call for papers or presentations for the Archaeology Session at
the National Speleological Society Annual Convention in Glenwood Springs,
Colorado. Tentatively scheduled for Friday Morning, the session is relatively
informal and the audience is friendly. This is an excellent opportunity for
archaeologists working in caves to discuss their recent research as well as for
cavers to discuss their archaeological discoveries or their contributions to
archaeological projects in any capacity. The idea of the session is to inform
and build bridges between people interested in caves and their cultural
features.

Presentations can be on any region, time period, material culture, or other
aspect of archaeology involving or touching upon caves. The papers or
presentations may be a formal or informal as you like, though a title, the
addresses of authors, and an abstract are required. The abstract must be
limited to 250 words. Please insure that it is a summary of your results, not
simply a statement of what you intend to discuss. Properly written abstracts
will appear in the Journal of Caves and Karst Studies.

Please send (via e-mail) your title, address, and abstract byAPRIL 15, 2011 to
[email protected] Also send a note with your audiovisual needs and any
other pertinent information. We look forward to a great session in Colorado.
