Bill, I downloaded the entire site of pdf's including all the indexes and caving accident reports and was only limited by my right mouse click time and save as functions of my hand. Each previous download was completed before I could start the next one. This took maybe an hour or two total. Are you downloading to view as a web page and then attempting to save or are you downloading as a file directly from the link web page? Now keep in mind I. Have a 110 mbps download connection via cable modem on docsis 3. It may have more to do with the variables, such as net congestion and time of day and so on than the NSS web site alone.

Subject: [Texascavers] NSS archives download speed

When I tried to download an old NSS News from the NSS web site

https://secure.caves.org/nss-business/publications/NSS_News/2004/August_04.pd f

(but you'll have to get there by going to caves.org and logging into the "members area" with your NSS number and ZIP code)

the download speed was briefly respectable, but quickly fell monotonically. I gave up after it got down to 1.5 KB/sec and "37 minutes remaining."

This doesn't happen to any similar downloads, such as from the AMCS web site, e.g.,

http://www.amcs-pubs.org/bul/bul4.pdf
