Recently, we have had some serious problems with some of the caver
visitors to caves owned or managed by the TCC. As a result, we will be
making some changes in our cave access policy. One of the changes involved
will require cavers to contact us at least one week before their visit. We
do want to publicly post our caver related problems on the internet. If you
have been coming out to TCC caves in the past, or if you want to visit the
caves in the future, please contact us at: [email protected] and we
will send you information concerning some of the problems that we have had
and the new requirement that will assist us in continuing access.
Thank you, Mike Walsh TCC President.

I've done the NSS ballot thing. Seems to work easily enough. One
mystery that was not explained: why may you vote for up to five
instead of four? That's because there is a vacancy on the board. The
fifth person in the count will get the remainder of the unexpired
term, ending in 2014. The first four will get a full term ending in
2015.
Note that it is not necessary to vote for as many as possible. If
there are only a couple you really want to win, filling out the rest
will just make it more likely that one of the fillers will beat one of
your favorites. (The votinh software will fuss mildly at you if you
don't vote for five. Ignore it.) -- Mixon

Folks, you now can register for the SWR 50th Anniversary dinner online.
Please go to *http://www.caves.org/region/swr/50th/register.html* and
sign up.
The registration results only in a charge for the dinner. The blank for
tshirt choices and extra glassware is an indication of interest only as
those details still are pending.
Keep in mind one 50th anniversary glass will be included with each dinner.
Below the online registration block there is a link (
*http://www.caves.org/region/swr/50th/50thregister.pdf* ) for a
downloadable PDF registration form that you may mail in.
However, we encourage online registration as it is simpler and will give
us a better idea of attendance early on.
Please note, there is a substantial price increase May 1 for late
registrants. Save yourself some money and sign up now.
See you at Fort Stanton on May 26.
Thank you.

You may be interested in noting that I have updated my posts on Cave Chat:
http://www.forums.caves.org/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=13148
There are 3 pages to these posts including a number of new images added through
January 1, 2012. When you get to the bottom of the first page, click on the
small "next" on the lower right. You may also be aware that we have scheduled
a return trip with a group of caves and karst scientists for OCT 25 - NOV 14,
2012. The trip is more than half-filled but we still have some space. If you
have an interest you should contact me soon at [email protected] for
itinerary and costs.
Although we are presently in Terlingua until early May, we do have a good
internet connection that is up and running (most of the time!). Note that
this is NOT A CAVING EXPEDITION as such, but more like an extended NSS
Convention geology field trip. We will see a lot of spectacular karst and get
into quite a number of caves, but as tourists, not as expedition cavers.
Feel free to pass this on to anyone you think might have an interest. First
come, first served.
