I received a couple of emails today asking for list help, and with the last few emails posted to the list, I'd like to offer up some help and advice.
As the list admin, my job is to keep the wheels of the bus rolling and also keep the peace by enforcing the couple of rules we have. I also see my job as helping those that could use it. My email box is very busy, and believe it or not, this is not anywhere close to being my busiest mailing list. Some of you may know this, but hopefully it could help the sanity of a few people. How do I manage hundreds of email a day? Simple, rules and folders. I don't read every single email, I skim the subjects in each folder. Since this subject, caving, is a big hobby of mine, I do pay closer attention to these emails, but I still only read the ones that interest me, unless something is brought to my attention. If anyone would like help setting things up to organize, or has questions, please reply off list. I'm here to help. A few good links for the 3 more popular free emails will get most people started. http://mail.google.com/support/bin/topic.py?hl=en&topic=12881 http://help.yahoo.com/tutorials/mmail/mmail/mm_manage1.html http://mailcall.spaces.live.com/blog/cns!CC9301187A51FE33!34264.entry Btw, I highly recommend gmail, I use it to host my personal mail and domain, if that isn't enough of a geek reference for you, not sure what could be! Also, long emails on a phone are a pain :) Charles, list admin
