There used to be (may still be) a glacier in Valdez, Alaska that had a river flowing through it that would run in the summer and freeze in the winter (novel concept). If you hiked up the frozen river tunnel, there would be a fair sized frozen lake a couple hundred yards up. A few of my friends would bring lanterns up there and play hockey in a relatively warm, climate controlled "arena" (28 F inside versus -10 F outside). Really, REALLY cool.
