Indeed, he sent a similar comment to one of the Eastern lists I'm on.

How about someone in Austin helping this aspiring young speleologist? It's a
chance for you to have a caving son for a year. He'll surely forever
be grateful.

My name is Laura Romer and I work for a non-profit organization called CCI.
We place international high school students who are coming to the US to
study high school here for a year. We have a young man from Belgium who is
extremely passionate about cave exploration and is a member of the
Speleology club at his school. He will be entering into school in the US in
August. His teacher in Belgium says he is a kind, curious, and determined
young student. We would like to place him with someone who shares his
passion for Speleology.

If you might be able to or you know of anyone who would like to host this
young man in their home for the academic school year, please let me know.
I have attached his profile to see if you might have an interest in hosting
him:

Thank you so much,
East Texas CCI Area Representative,

I promise to swing through Austin and pick him up and take him caving a couple
of times while he's here. He should learn what the English term "tank haul"
means.

Bill

Happy Winter Caving, All,

This is the best time for caving in Texas to me.

1. If TCMA owes you a tax letter, and you have not received it for a
donation, please let me know and we will rectify this. Though we have
gotten better about these letters, we sometimes still miss one or two and
tax time is almost here. I would prefer sending them out by email if that
is possible for you, but hard copy is also possible.

2. TCMA AUCTION! The Spring TCMA Auction will be at the TSA Spring
Convention. You should soon hear announcements at your grotto, and have
somebody locally to collect items. If you don't hear, we would appreciate
YOU volunteering to collect items and get them to convention. Jim Kennedy
[email protected] is collecting a list of items, so keep him informed,
please. TCMA will pay off Punkin and Deep Preserve this year, with your
help! Donated money has made this possible! (We also intend to have enough
in savings to make the next down payment when we find the next cave to
purchase.)

3. CAVES! We have a couple of possible purchase leads, but still need
your continued vigilance and help! Especially in the time of economic
downturn, we hope to find our next cave to purchase. Keep us informed of
any possible leads on caves to purchase or manage.

Thanks for your continued support of TCMA!

The State Department updated their travel advisory for Mexico last
month. I'm not sure folks on Texas Cavers have seen this. If you'll be
traveling in Mexico, it might be a good idea to take some of the contact
information located at the bottom of the advisory with you.
