The roster of speakers for the 2009 Spring TSA Convention is almost
complete, but there is still an opportunity for a few more people to
give a presentation. We have talks on geology, biology, cave
exploration in Mexico, ICS volunteer opportunities, TSA projects and
an intro to the cave survey program Walls. A little more
diversification would be great--for example, a short but entertaining
caving history talk would be fun.
One new feature to this year's presentations will be a "Caver's Show
and Tell Time." What's suitable for "Show and Tell?" Here's a few
examples:
1) Short cave video (less than 2 minutes, please);
2) That unique piece of new caving gear that you bought (or made, or
someone else made) that you can't cave without anymore;
3) That unique piece of old (more than 20 years old, please, but the
older the better) caving gear that everybody used to use, and now
today's young cavers look at you as though you're from another planet
when you wax on philosophically about how it was indispensable back in
the "Good Old Days" of caving;
4) Any cave-related artifact that involves an interesting but short
(approximately 2 minutes, please) story to explain its significance.
We'll schedule the Show and Tell time as the last presentation of the
day, so there will be ample time for people to ooh and aah over your
items and to ask questions.
If you wish to bring something for Show and Tell, it will be "first
come, first served," so make sure you're ready at the end of the
regular presentations to "show us what you've got."
Remember, the TSA Convention will be held at Kerrville-Schreiner Park
on April 24-26, 2009.
