I've also seen George Washington's name in a cave in West Virginia which is probably authentic as he was surveying property in the area. I would suspect that most of the signatures in Mammoth Cave, with the exception of Columbus and Bat Man, are probably authentic and can be traced back to real people who were tourists, or actively exploring or working in the cave. There are a number of locations where you can see Stephen Bishops name in Mammoth Cave.
