Here is a new headlamp you might find at Gander Mountain: *http://www.browning.com/products/catalog/images/3712113l.jpg*<http://us.st12.yimg.com/us.st.yimg.com/I/yhst-39177542777868_2017_5116919>
http://www.mosquitocreek.com/prodinfo.asp?number=3712113 I would like to find this, and take a close look at the collator lens. There are presently over a hundred LED headlamps at the department stores, yet very few of them incorporate a collator lens. I have found that this type of lens is more common in LED flashlights like Rayovac, and it seems to help spread the LED light better. I don't like the switch on this headlamp. There is no dim mode, and the flashing mode would only be usable if you were truly lost and needed to found. I don't recall that happening very often in caving. I think most cavers agree that they don't want a strobe switch on their caving headlamp. Right? I think the idea of an aluminum ring around the lens is a good one. This might make a good backup lamp to carry in your caving pack. David Locklear
