For the past few months, web-sites discussing MicroSoft
Vista have portrayed the software as being inferior to
the older XP. Even after the release of the 1st service
pack, they still grumbled.
But in the past few days the tide seems to be turning:
At least 3 of these sites are now giving Vista SP1 favorable
reviews:

Most of the negative reviews are from way back in March, so
that is good news for Vista SP1.
Here is one review that alledges Vista SP1 is the best
at isolating rootkits ( rootkits are apparenty something you
don't want on your computer ).

In my opinion, there is no clear explanation between MicroSoft and the
software companies whether the SP1 version will conflict with programs
that were certified to run on the original version of Vista.
For example the latest download of the anti-virus program Kapersky
only indicates that it will operate on Vista SP1, and that is much more
than other programs are saying.

Supposedly, drivers are becoming more available. For example:

I am surprised that there seems to be little recent chatter on the web about
Vista SP1. Only the geeks on the Vista forums seem to care. My theory
is that people are so pre-occupied with the real world problems like how to
find money to buy gas to get to work, that they don't give a rat's a#s about
Vista.
