I predict that Obama will beat McCain 61 to 31 with 8 going to whoever else. I only see 3 factors that would give McCain more than 31 percent. The primary reason being a certain number of people will vote Republican even if Huckabee were running. The 2nd reason is that Obama may try to say too much and accidentally shoot himself in the foot. And the 3rd is there is an unpredictable 5 per cent or so that will not vote for a black candidate no matter what. I can't forsee this being like Bush vs. Gore as a tight race. Obama is going to win by a landslide simply because so many voters are fed up with what the Republicans did the last few years. I think black republicans are going to secretly vote for Obama. I think there is going to be a larger black turnout than in years past.
If Hillary went independent ( very unlikely ), Obama could still beat McCain, but I would bet that Hillary would beat the 3 in a 3-way. I think that would lead to a much more exciting election, and draw even more voters to the polls. I think the average American wants to reform health care and they know the republicans are not going to do it. Is our 2 way system really fair to the candidates or to the voter? The NBA, NCAA, NFL, etc does not eliminate its teams in this manner. Why shouldn't our voting system work the same?
