It is against Ebay's TOS to sell speleothems. You can always report the listing to Ebay. They will review your report and yank the item. There is a tutorial on how to report speleothems for sale at the following link: http://forums.caves.org/viewtopic.php?f=46&t=6296&p=51541&hilit=howto#p51541. Unfortunately, you have to log in to see it. I have pasted the contents of the post here in case you don't have a cavechat user account.
-Jonny ^v^ *BEGIN TUTORIAL* Thought this might be useful. It wasn't immediately obvious to me. Here are instructions for those of you who are at least as challenged as myself [image: :-)]. Before you file a report, make sure it is in fact an illegal sale. Please politely contact the seller and ask them about the item in question. Hopefully you'll be able to clear things up without having to file a report. It would be to your benefit to read the rest of the posts in this thread, as there is a lot of information that might be useful in the event that you do in fact start a dialog with the seller. If you still feel that it is necessary to file a report, follow the steps below: If you've found a formation that is illegally for sale, scroll down to the bottom of the item description page. You will see "Other options" in bold text. Directly below this is a link that reads "Report this item". Click this link. A page will now load where you are required to select options that indicate why you are reporting the item. Do as follows: Step 1: Choose "Prohibited (banned items)" Step 2: Choose "Artifacts" Step 3: Choose "Cave formations (speleothems, stalactites, and stalagmites)" Click "Continue >" This next step is the one that confused me. Ignore the main text and click on the little "Email us" link. You have now reached the main report form. If you have found multiple items that you need to report, enter them here, separated by commas. You can enter up to 10 items in a single report. Click "Send" when you are ready to report what you've found. Congratulations!! You've just filed a report! Now maybe the cave gods will bless you with big, booming, virgin borehole [image: :-)]. *END TUTORIAL* On Tue, Jun 3, 2008 at 12:04 AM, Lois Manno <[email protected]> wrote: > >> Hello all, > > For the second time, this individual has listed a 250-pound chunk of > speleothem material on Ebay for sale.
