Good news for thirsty cavers!

Shiner Beer, brewed in the heart of Texas and the beer of choice in the
Center of the Caving Universe (a.k.a. Austin) has just been named Official
Beer of the 15th International Congress of Speleology.

Cavers from all over the world converging on Kerrville, Texas the week of
July 19-26, 2009 will be treated to a variety of the Spoetzl Brewery's
unique and full flavored beers such as Shiner Bock, Shiner Hefeweizen,
Shiner Blonde, Shiner Bohemian Black Lager and Shiner Light.

A bit of cave-related Shiner trivia:
Two bottles of Shiner Beer accompanied the record-setting British
Speleological Expedition to Papua New Guinea in 1975.
Legendary Texas caver William Russell funded the Academy Award winning UT
student documentary, The Last of the Little Breweries, which chronicled the
Spoetzl Brewery's uphill struggle to survive against the big, corporate
breweries.
