If you find yourself at U.S. Customs without a passport,
you might still be able to get back in, but there will be
long delays, forms to fill out, and unexpected problems.

American citizens under 18 will still be able to get
out of Mexico or Canada ( by car or boat only )
with just a birth certificate. So if you look 17 1/2, get
yourself a birth certificate that says your almost
18.

And American Indians are not affected by the new
rule. And the new rule doesn't affect territories
like Puerto Rico.

You can still get to New Mexico without identification.

On a related note,

My next door neighbors who are from Mexico City went
home for the weekend to visit relatives. They left
all their stuff in their house only taking a weekend
travel bag. They can't get back in the country.
Apparently, their visa had expired and they didn't
realize it was going to be nearly impossible to
renew it.

They are retired and sold everything back home to
move here to help their children and grandchildren who are
either residents or citizens.

I feel like a hypocrit saying the Feds should stop
immigration, while at the same time saying, I feel it is o.k.
for these folks to be here.
