Julia, et al.

I appreciate the interest and would be glad to provide the 6-minute DVD
(downloadable from the ICS website: www.ics2009.us) for showing. I'll have
to leave after my morning talks for a few hours and probably won't be
available to show the DVD or give other presentations on the ICS on
Saturday. One purpose of the Sunday trip I'll lead to Schreiner campus is to
show people exactly what to expect from the ICS and hopefully drum up some
volunteers. I know everyone won't be able to go on Sunday, so I'd be happy
if someone on the ICS Organizing Committee wanted to give more information
and sign up volunteers on Saturday. If someone on the OC is willing, contact
me off-post.

Thanks,

George

April 4-6

Hi Julia and other Texas Cavers,

George Veni has already agreed to talk at the Convention; he will be
the first speaker of the day (at 8:30 a.m.) on Saturday. He will give
two back-to-back talks, entitled:

"The National Cave and Karst Research Institute: a status report for
the Texas Speleological Association"

"The Karst Information Portal: an international multi-purpose tool
for caving, cave science, and cave stewardship"

On Sunday morning (time to be determined) he has volunteered to give
an informal tour:

"Preview of the 15th International Congress of Speleology"
The 15th ICS will be held in Kerrville in July 2009 at Schreiner
University. The tour will last 2-3 hours depending on people's
interests and questions. Schreiner is only 1.5 miles away. Go in your
own vehicle and feel free to leave early or stay late.

If the Volunteer Coordinators wish to give a short pitch for help,
that could be arranged.

I believe George has a DVD video that explains the purpose of the
Congress, etc., perhaps it could be made available for grotto
meetings and for separate display at the Convention?
