US cavers, and Texas cavers in particular, are hosting the 15th
International Congress of Speleology which starts precisely 18 months from
now. It will be a big volunteer effort and one important job is to keep
track of everyone who wants to help and match them with members of the
Organizing Committee. Cat Whitney has been handling that position but needs
to take a leave of absence due to pressing family matters. Since we don't
know how much time off she will need, I need someone to take the job in the
meantime. It is possible that even when she rejoins us, that there may be
enough to do on this task to keep two people busy. While this job could be
handled from anywhere in the US, having someone with familiarity and
experience with Texas caves, cavers, and geography is a definite plus so I'm
advertising on this listserver first. If you are interested, please contact
me off-post.

If you are not interested in this job but in helping out with the ICS in
general, send me your name, contact information, skills, interests, and
availability. I'll pass it on to the Volunteer Coordinator and we'll be in
touch as needs arise. So far most jobs involve organizational details that
the committee heads are handling, but as the ICS gets closer, they will need
more and more help. Registration will begin this summer and the website will
soon be getting major updates.

The most significant caving event to hit North America will soon be here.
