I was afraid someone would point that out. Certainly, there are others out there that knew all of these people better than I did, and I would think the older cavers have a much longer list of lost friends.
However, I got to thinking about that after a caving trip to Cass Cave in West Virginia. One of the guys on the trip had a heart attack 2 weeks later and passed away. He seemed to be in better health than myself. I left out a few other names of lost caving friends, because it didn't fit the article, and I have posted on that subject before. Fortunately, I can say that I was not within 100 miles of any of those people when they passed away. One of the most special caving events, is "the toast to long lost friends at the NSS Banquet."
