This is probably old news to most of you, but I just
found out about it.

There is a standard for how waterproof your gadgets are.

It is called IPX and ranges from 1 to 8

IPX-8 appears to be the rating you would want for caving
gear where you plan to go to caves like Honeycreek.

You may see this listed on things like GPS units.


On a related note, GPS units have come along way in the
past year.     I think one model lets you show your digital
camera photos, and also has an MP3 player.

I want a GPS unit that works underground, so that I don't
get lost.    Also it needs to show a vertical profile of the
cave, so I know what level I am at.      They had that in
the movie "The Cave," didn't they?  or am I confused
with some other sci-fi show?
