Actually, he's doesn't "ward off cavers," he protects cavers, spelunkers, speliologists (sic) and other underground beings. Or, if the medal is to be believed, he proteges cavers. I'm not sure how you "protege" someone, and maybe that's his out!

You probably knew there was a patron saint to ward off cavers, spelunkers, etc. but did you know you could buy a medal on EBAY that works well according to some ancient accounts. I was thinking it might be a boon for certain fathers with daughters like Locklear who might want to keep underground Romeos at arms length.
