All the news about Locklear's passport has reminded me that I saw a statement in the New York Times a couple of weeks ago, in an article about the problem with passport delays impacting air and sea travelers to Canada, Mexico, and the Caribbean, that the date for requiring passports for land (i.e., car) travelers returning from Canada and Mexico has been put off until summer 2008.
