Hi Nico: Pity you were not caving when I was beating around Mexico in the 60's and 70's! I have appreciated your posts.
The "rental property" is a large house zoned commercial a block off the center of downtown Ruidoso. That part is rented long-term and pays for the property and a bit more. There is a junky old 3-room cabin behind the house that we lived in on weekends while working on ski patrol (both my wife and I and two kids). All the time we lived in the Big Bend (Alpine, TX) it was a 7-hour drive to get there, and a time change that was a disadvantage on the return home. We did not do too much caving in the winter. So it's not quite like a motel or even a caver flop-house. If you wanted to come up for a couple of months, we could figure out what the current situation is with the cabin (I have not been there for about 4 years - and I know it is empty and shut down, without heat, water, or power turned on). We would have to turn it back on and chase out the pack rats. I rented it for $250/month for the winter. So it is probably not a value for you. But thanks for the thought. Well, perhaps you could tie it in with Fort Stanton cave! The ski area does get a lot of folks from Mexico. Between the wealthy teen-agers from Mexico City and the "indestructible" cowboys from Houston and Ft. Worth all learning to ski, I've LOTS of stories. Despacio, por favor! (Woops! Too late! Bring the toboggan.)
