This is my pre-convention trip report.

It is 1 am on Thursday. I have about 29 hours to get my
act together and check in at the airport.

I was going to take Thursday off and relax and spend some time
with our toddler, and get organized before
the trip; but that isn't going to happen. It is going to be a long
stressful day.

I have shipped 1/2 my gear to the convention via bus and by mail, so
I won't have to deal with it at the airport. Hopefully it will get there
before I need it.

I hope to land safely in Louisville, Kentucky on noon Friday, and I should
have a rental car waiting on me. There is a San Fransisco caver
hoping to find a ride from the airport, so if that works out, then I will
be riding with him to Marengo.

For me, this is a much needed trip. I have not seen or felt limestone,
in over 2 years. I don't think I have even touched a limestone pebble.
( I did touch a rock on the beach last summer in Washington, but that wasn't
limestone ). It has been years since I have been caving, and 2 years
since I visited a commercial cave - Richland Caverns in Alabama.

I am going to be so glad to get out of the town I have been held prisoner
in. It should feel like somebody pulling a giant thorn out of my skin.

Had I not already paid for the plane and the convention, I probably would
have had to cancel at the last minute or at least scale back my trip.
Several of my customers dumped a bunch of work on me today and I am
going to have to find somebody to do it while I am out of town. And to
add to the fire, my XWYF2B, decided to take a plane in the morning to
Monterrey with the baby, and spend 4 whole days, and I have to take them
to the airport in 4 hours which is an hour drive away. And now I don't
have anybody to take me to the airport. Why do would any
sane person get married?
