I am organizing another survey trip to Punkin Cave the weekend of 1-3 June 2007. We already have a lot of the survey veterans returning, but there are still some spots available for a few people, up to the TCMA maximum of 24. All participants must have their own vertical gear and be competent in its use. (I will provide the ropes and rig the entrance.) All participants must be willing to survey in confusing passages with guano. There will be at least 5 survey teams. No participants will be permitted on this trip who are not willing to survey, except for one caver willing to cook for the group (whom we already have). We will have group meals to avoid congestion in the fieldhouse kitchen and food and water waste (from cleaning), so plan to bring an extra $10-15 besides the $5 TCMA fieldhouse donation.
This is NOT the cave for inexperienced sketchers. Almost everything is a 3-dimensional maze. Worse, some of the walls and ceilings are not nice bedrock, but complex breakdown. Sketching to scale is mandatory, not optional. Despite all the warnings, it's a great cave, with passages everywhere, and our trips are always fun and exciting. If you are interested in joining us, please let me know. First come, first served, although I will keep a wait list in case somebody on our current list drops out.
