I read this in the Edmonson County newspaper today at the DQ in Brownsville, KY.
Dec. 4 is the 26st Christmas Sing at Mammoth Cave. This is down in the cave and is free. It starts at 2 pm with stories at the Visitors Center by Rick Sanders then at 2:30 all go into the cave where The Mammoth Cave Barber Shop Quartet and the Mammoth Cave Brass Band will perform. With the wonderful acoustics there at the Methodist Church this could be a lot of fun and help put you into the Christmas Spirit. Shari and I have never attended one of these Mammoth Cave Christmas Sings but I bet it is a good traditional time. In the park we noticed that the Flint Ridge Baptist Church is being painted at this time. Always glad to see improvements being made in the park in this day of limited budget, etc. The Floyd Collins Crystal Cave Ticket Office was restored this past summer and the Floyd Collins Home's roof was patched up last summer. The Old Guide's Cemetery had major repairs done last fall after a summer squall line blew large trees down on the metal fence and almost wiped out Steven Bishops monument. By the way the Rail Trail from Park City to Sloan Crossing is really looking good. This could turn into a nice hiking and biking trail. It looks first class with many parking areas. No motorized vehicles or horses will be allowed on the trail.
